From Family Pioneers to Industrial Partners
Rotech's story is one of passion for technology, family-owned entrepreneurship, and a constant thirst for innovation. What began in 1995 as an ambitious project has grown into a leading specialist in rotational molding within the DS Plastics Group.
1995 – The First Forms: Rotational Molding
The foundation of our expertise is laid in Ghent. A new rotational molding facility is established under the name Vecoplast. The goal? To manufacture high-quality plastic products with an eye for detail.
1996 – The Power of Family
A crucial year for our identity: brothers Ronny and Roger Deschacht join the company. Production moves to Nevele under the DS Plastics banner. With a pioneering spirit, they develop "rock and roll" machines in-house, scaling up production capacity to ten units. The family core values of that time still form the backbone of our company.
2008 – Modernization and Efficiency
Standing still means going backwards. DS Plastics moves to a state-of-the-art new site in Lokeren. This move is accompanied by a major modernization of the machinery. The introduction of advanced carousel machines and energy-efficient ovens not only makes us faster but also more sustainable.
2009 – The Birth of Rotech
Thanks to new technical possibilities, we can tackle more complex challenges. To optimally serve the industrial market, Rotech is established. As a specialized subdivision, Rotech focuses entirely on supplying industrial players, with a focus on customization and technical perfection.
2011 – A Broader Vision
The expertise within the group continues to grow. Tom Henneman, grandson of Roger Deschacht, launches the Otium division. With this, the group bridges the gap to the design world with the production of high-quality flowerpots and outdoor designer furniture.
2015 – The Third Generation
Continuity assured: Tom Henneman advances to the role of CEO. Under his leadership, the three divisions—DS Plastics Watertight solutions, Otium, and Rotech—are forged into a powerful group ready for the challenges of the 21st century.
2021 – Anchoring and Vision
A significant milestone in the group's history: Tom Henneman becomes co-owner. This step not only confirms his personal commitment but also guarantees the family continuity and long-term stability of the company. This anchoring paves the way to further realize our ambitions and further strengthen the synergy between the various divisions.
2023 > … – Room for Growth
With the commissioning of a brand-new production facility, all supplementary activities (non-rotomoulding) are centralized. This expansion drives our continued growth and enables us to offer our customers an even more comprehensive service. Today, with over 30 years of experience, we remain true to our roots: smart designs, innovative techniques, and sustainable products. We contribute to efficient solutions for all kinds of industries!
